HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

So jealous of all those lovely N.Z. summer Christmas and New Years pic's that we've been seeing. The weather here just keeps getting colder. Getting used to the feeling of frozen nostrils and eyelashes now.

We've been having a great time - has been wonderful having b's sister here for the last 3 and a bit weeks. She is flying back to Germany tommorow morning and will DEFINITELY be missed. While she's been here we have had a few adventures - local skifield, mongolian wrestling, climbing hills in -30 C, camping in gers, pushing taxis up frozen hills, getting lost in Mongolian countryside while avoiding police checkpoints - all sorts of excitement really. I expect that soon life will settle back into a more familiar hum-drum.

It's only one month now until Justus turns 5, still not sure exactly what our schooling plan is going to be but any fantastic ideas for challenging an active 5 year old mind (and body!) would be gratefully accepted.

Life in Mongolia continues to be challenging and inspiring all at the same time. Mongolia is a very harsh country, temperatures and weather conditions that would close cities in N.Z. seem to not even make a dent in the activity outside. The thick ice that forms over pavement and roads everywhere is cleared by hand with very simple equipment by hardy, industrious workers -in any developed country the same work would require the purchase of expensive specialised equipment for sure.

Hope you are all content and enjoying the first days of 2010

Loads of love
b and the team

  1. Hi Steve and Belinda, I try to keep up to date with your blog from time to time but my eyes just cannot cope with the colour scheme. I have to copy the words into another program so that I can read them!

Not so hot here in Kaiapoi at the moment as we have had a lot of overcast days and rain. Good for things that grow, but not so good for bbqs. Take care, LukeM.
