We've just got back from a great trip around central Mongolia and the North Gobi area. We travelled with friends and their kids and had a ball. Lots of bumpity driving so we were very pleased for a couple of Landcruisers. We managed to hang out in gers, eat real mongolian BBQ (a bit like hangi food in taste/texture), play in big sand dunes, walk to waterfalls, drink from fresh springs and see plenty of horses, camels, goats, cattle and sheep. There were countless hours of eye spy and 'guess what I'm thinking of games' on the trails in between. It was a really enjoyable trip to have as part of our Mongolian memories. Most of the photos below are from our trip - hopefully we'll get some more soon off Michelle who we travelled with - she has a much fancier camera than us.
I was talking with Justus today about how he feels to be leaving Mongolia and he said that he's very excited to have a plane ride and see his friends and family in N.Z. but he will be sad to leave Mongolia. That was really nice to hear. Steve and I have enjoyed our time in Mongolia and we are both thankful for all the experiences we have had but we are also looking forward to the future and our next phase in working out this 'development thing'.
Love to you all, this might be the last blog before we return to Kiwiland.
